Exploring Language Transfer: Positive and Negative Effects on Second Language Acquisition

Language Transfer: It is a method in which rules and regulations of the native language are used to learn a new language. If the rules of the native language can be applied to the new language then it is called positive transfer, and if the rules of the native language fail to apply then it is called negative transfer.

For example, In Spanish, adjectives have plurals as well just like nouns do, but in English, this is not the case, so this is called negative transfer.

However, some words in English and Spanish have similar meaning and are used in similar ways up to certain points like the word history in English is similar to historia used in Spanish, which carries the same meaning, but it is used in different contexts sometimes in English language.
